Our Nine-Step Process

HC&R GROUP has fine-tuned the traditional, sequential approach to residential construction projects providing our clients with thorough estimates and realistic timetables. Our single point of responsibility benefits our clients by providing a one-stop-shop for design, engineering, and construction experience. This streamlined process means better cost control, higher quality and positive outcomes.

Whether working on a renovation, adaptive reuse or from-the-ground-up new construction project, HC&R GROUP coordinates all efforts from initial design to final completion with detailed planning and exceptional project management.

Step 1:

A typical project timeline begins with the conceptual consultation. During this planning stage, we review your goals, needs and ideas to establish a plan that meets your dreams and budget. We review our planning and building process and how it is structured to ensure the project’s success. HC&R coordinates each creative step so the look and function matches your expectations.

Step 2:

Once we have an agreed-upon understanding of the scope of work, we will work with the architect and associated trade partners selected for the project to turn sketches into working plans. Our clients participate in the overall design process by partnering with us to create a functional new living space that sets it apart from the ordinary. We thoroughly examine existing conditions to confirm the flow of the new space and to verify that project initiatives can be met.

Step 3:

Based on the approval of the scope of work, a detailed description of each step of the construction process, from foundation to framing and electrical details is prepared. This agreement is reviewed with the client to assure that all requirements are being met.

Step 4:

Once the construction agreement is approved, structural plans are prepared for permitting which is also managed by HC&R GROUP. Depending on the complexity of the project at hand, this step can take place as quickly as a few days for a renovation permit to a few months for a building permit required for a new home.

Step 5:

This is where it gets really exciting! All materials, appliances and finish selections are made. The coordination of each detail will make the new space unique. Specifications are confirmed for all choices and compiled in a complete job plan which is available to all trade partners on the HC&R GROUP website.

Step 6:

With plans, permits and specifications complete, construction begins. The Team Manager meets with the client on-site to walk the project and discuss how the job will be built. On remodeling projects, specifics such as where materials will be stored, how the home will be protected from dust and how to safeguard children and pets in the home during construction will be discussed.

Step 7:

The Production Manager manages the project timing and is always available to answer questions throughout the construction process. Our clients receive a schedule of anticipated timing and work flow which is updated and provided at regular intervals. Either the Team Manager or Production Manager is on site every day to assure that work is being conducted based on approvals and that we’re within budget and timeline schedules.

Step 8:

Prior to completion, the Production Manager walks the project to record any small items that need to be altered to ensure 100% client satisfaction.

Step 9:

Upon completion of the construction, HC&R’s Team Manager and or Production Manager will walk the job with the client. The client is provided with a full packet of information on warranted products and services and is asked to complete a satisfaction survey. If we’ve done our job well, we’ve earned a client for life!
